~ Chapter 70: Memories and Turmoil (Part 2) ~

[Nanya’s point of view]

Now, to be fair, I was getting a really weird feeling from Illsy. My demonic side was acting up whenever he left during the night. In a manner of speaking, I woke up feeling as though I would lose him.

It was a strange thing that happened to me, but I was certain I had never felt anything like that before. This fear, this sensation was something new and terrifying. The first time I felt it was during the Mehalom Ancient Dungeon. It was too faint and weak at that moment, but it was certainly the same type of sensation, a dreadful one.

I thought it was a one time thing, but then it happened again and again, even when we were fighting at the castle against Reynolds’ troops. It was just a moment, but when I looked at Illsy, I felt a shiver run down my spine all the way to the tip of my tail.

Lately, however, I got that strange feeling almost every night.

If anyone asked me what was wrong, I blamed it on a bad dream or a memory of Dankyun. No one knew the truth because even I wasn’t sure what it was.

At first, I thought that it was mere jealousy towards Shanteya and Ayuseya, but it wasn’t that. After the night in which he embraced both me and the el’doraw, I was quite certain that I felt no such thing towards them. In fact, I was getting curious to test out a foursome with Ayuseya as well. Maybe I unwillingly awoken my perverted side, but all of us like that… for some strange reason, I saw it as if it would make us all complete.

I pondered about this for a while.

Eventually, I came to the conclusion that my demonic side accepted Illsy, Ayuseya, and Shanteya as a whole. Thinking about a passionate night with all of us made me tingle and see it as an absolute perfection. Thinking about myself without Illsy and only Ayuseya or Shanteya felt… weird, wrong, incomplete?

My instincts were weird, and I knew for certain that Ayuseya didn’t have anything like that. She wanted Illsy only to herself. For her, the perfect night was with our husband alone and away from us, the other wives. The draconian princess was greedy.

As for Shanteya… I’m never going to underestimate her abilities under the sheets ever again!

So, jealousy wasn’t it…

I racked my brains again and again… Each night, when he was gone, I felt fear… a tormenting fear. When he returned, I felt at peace, but this didn’t happen often, and it wasn’t always that bad.

This sensation, instinct, or whatever I could call it was certainly part of my demonic side, maybe a genetic gift from mother? Nonetheless, it got annoyingly stronger during the last few days before arriving to Teyarion.

It was like something inside me was warning me of something dreadful.

As I sat down on the bed at the inn in Teyarion, I looked up at the ceiling, and a stray thought crossed my mind.

This fear… is it maybe the fear of losing a mate?

In a way, it made sense. The only times I felt this was when The Darkness took over. In rest, it was all peachy.

As a demoness, losing my mate was probably one of the worst things that could happen to me. My mother always told me that when my demonic side chooses one, it will cling to them for dear life and never let go. Illsy was my mate.

If the Darkness was taking over and destroying him then the fear came exactly from that. Now, it felt like it was more urgent for me than ever not let that happen.

While I was thinking about such things, I suddenly felt it again. My heart sunk in my chest, and I started to breath hard. I was in the room with Ayuseya, who was in the middle of reading a book. Shanteya wasn’t at inn, she left to gather information and see if she could buy some books for Illsy. As for him, he was downstairs with Tamara, cooking fish.

There was no way of letting either of them know what was happening to me, but then I heard a commotion downstairs.

“What was that?” Ayuseya asked surprised.

The sensation was weaker, but the feeling of fear didn’t vanish. I tried to calm down.

“I-I don’t know…” I looked up at the door and then over at the draconian.

My hands were still shaking a bit, but I manage to stop them.

“I’ll go check it out.” I announced as I got up from my bed.

“I’m coming too.” said the draconian princess.

We both walked downstairs and came across a disturbing scene.

Tamara was hiding behind a pole, shivering and crying, while Illsyore was on the other side, breathing hard and holding his head as if he had a terrible headache.

When he saw us, he looked at us with his right red eye.

“WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?!” he shouted and then groaned. “I’m sorry…” he muttered and then stumbling back, he grabbed his head and fell on his knees.

We were looking at him dumbstruck, unable to understand what was happening, but inside, the fear grew stronger. I held my chest and trembled.

Is this really Illsy? I wondered.

A moment later, he calmed down, and his eyes returned to their normal, beautiful jade-green color. The fear also vanished.

“I’m sorry… I’m sorry…” Illsy said as he was tearing up.

“It’s alright, my love.” Ayuseya went over to comfort him, while I walked over to poor Tamara.

“What happened?” I asked her.

“I don’t know… The Darkness… Master… he was hurting and…” she sniffled.

“Come here.” I urged.

Trembling, she jumped into my arms, and I petted her furry head. Something frightened her, something even she didn’t understand.

Looking over at Illsy, I was beginning to fear we didn’t really have that much time left to waste around not doing anything about it.

Zoreya, please come back with some good news… I thought.

[Tamara’s point of view]

Master was going to cook fish for me! I was happy!

After talking with the inn keeper, he allowed us to use his kitchen for a small fee. Master had no problem tossing a copperette his way, and we both went inside.

“You can’t wait for it, can you?” Master asked with a bright smile on his face.

“Nya~!” I nodded and licked my lips.

My ears twitched, and I eagerly started to help him with cleaning the vegetables.

While we were cooking, I felt a strange tingle on my back. I looked around, but there was nothing there. Then I saw Master. He was holding his head with his right hand as if he was suffering. I got worried, so I carefully approached him.

“Master? What’s wrong?” I asked.

“Ugh…” he groaned and looked away.

My whiskers tingle, and I felt like there was something dangerous around me, but I was with Master, there was no danger there. Was I wrong?

“Master?” I called out to him.

He didn’t reply.

“Master? Master? Are you alright? Nyu.” I asked him as I flatted my ears and looked at him worriedly.

“Get…” he muttered.

“Master?” I pulled on his clothes. “Master? What’s wrong?” I asked him.

He then suddenly glared at me. I froze.

This… This is not Master… I thought as I looked at his dark-red right eye.

The left side of his face was in pain, while the other looked angry.

“LEAVE ME ALONE! YOU RUNT!” that thing inside Master shouted at me and tossed me out of the kitchen.

It was an invisible force, one of Master’s most used skills: [Telekinezy]. I landed on my feet, but I couldn’t stand up. The collar around my neck was hurting. It was strangling and burning me…

“It hurts… nya… Master…” I said as I looked at him.

He was struggling with the pain in his head and looked as though he was in a tug-of-war with whatever was inside of him… The Darkness.

When the collar stopped hurting, I hid behind a pillar, afraid of that ominous thing. I was afraid of it.

“Master…” I cried out.

It was then when Nanya and Ayuseya came down here.
