Cristian Mădălin Dragomir is the author of several well-known web novels as well as several bestselling books on Amazon.

Currently, Cristian Mădălin Dragomir plans on pursuing a career as a counselor for artists with the intent to help those who feel like they are stuck in their path.

Now for a bit of a life story:

Cristian Mădălin Dragomir was born in Romania in 1989 and has seen the country go through its transition from Communism to Democracy. The behavior, mentality, and expression of the people around him being what has changed the most or, in some cases, not at all. He was never involved in the political struggles in his country, seeing their change and evolution more from an observer perspective.

In 2007, he learned that he had Hepatitis B, with a high possibility of him being infected from a recent dentist visit. Later, it was confirmed that it was a rare case of Hepatitis B with a wild strain of Hepatitis D, which at that time was described as having no potential method of treatment or cure. The fear of infecting others kept him from properly socializing, then the medication pushed him into depression. All this while going through the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, following an Aerospace Engineering degree.

His mental health deteriorated even more when he had to go through Interferon Alpha treatment in 2012 all through 2013 and 2014 with most of his time being a struggle against suicidal thoughts caused by three different forms of depression: Emotional (as a result of his troubled perspective on the world), Spiritual (as a result of his lack of connection with God and the divine), and Chemical (as a result of the treatment). Friends and family helped him push through even the most critical and dire moments.

In 2012 he also began writing in the English language after failing to be recognized as a writer by the Printing Houses in Romania. This also proved to be a form of self-therapy as it helped him get through the more physically painful and mentally anguishing moments caused by the Interferon treatment.

The Soul Mate of a Demon Queen was the first book he published in the English Language in the format of a short story, which was later changed and rewritten in a full novel format. This book was published on Amazon. It was then followed by The Rise of the Werewolf, The Memories of an Ask’odar and then the first two volumes of the novella series The Kyoran Dream. They did not do so great.

He was freed of the chemical induced depression in 2015, and both the spiritual and emotional ones were taking a turn for the better, which prompted him to try his hand at writing more as well as be more open minded in general.

In 2015 he started a blog on which he wrote the first chapters of the I was reincarnated as a Magic Academy! web novel, inspired by the brave attitude of other writers who started to post overseas in this format. Later, in October, the blog was discovered by a web novel translator and with a single helpful post from them managed to gain awareness on the internet.

In 2016, he published the e-book version for the I was reincarnated as a Magic Academy! and then in the following year 100 Luck and the Dragon Tamer Skill!

In 2017 he started working with the developers of Tiny Trinket on a game. He was in charge of character development, story, lore, mission writing, flavor text, basically anything that involved a writer, but the workload changed as the game itself switched from one form to another. Although this adventure began with a lot of hype and hope for an awesome collaboration, the amount of writing he had to do was stressful. Unfortunately, he was unable to convey this fact properly to his team members.

In 2018, seeing his workload continuing to grow, he did an analysis on everything he had to do for the story, lore, and missions’ text and concluded that he had to write at the very least 1 million words if not more. This amount of work coupled with his already growing web novel series and constant health issues from his Hepatitis caused him to feel more stressed and depressed than ever before. At this time, he had yet to understand or learn the importance of knowing what you want to do and how much you should do.

The stress, depression, and overwork culminated in February of that same year when he had a mental breakdown and was unable to write anything story-related for more than a month. It was a terrible case of a writer burnout which would continue to affect him in some form or another from then on. Mental anguish and the sense of hopelessness mixed in with fear and terror would be the best way to describe the sensation during that period. Communication problems made it impossible for him to share the gravity of the situation with the team.

Later that year, the developers of Tiny Trinket switched work on another project, Azuran Tales: Trials. The workload was easier because the story took place in the same universe. It was supposed to be simple and easy to read. The game was unfinished at the time of the request, with most bosses and levels far from being done, but he had to write lore and story for all those unknown factors as well. Knowing that whatever he wrote might need to be changed at a moment’s notice because of a whim or technical issue regarding the structure of the game as a whole, he chose to write a loose story that could fit any possible changes they might have in mind. Thus, he had enough time to finish their request properly and in time.

After the launch of the game, there were problems with regard to recognition and payment. In the end, he got nothing and was forced to leave the team. This event led to him finally understanding the importance of a contract as well as realize that despite his own friendly and positive views, he might have never been considered as part of the team but rather as an extra or an outsider.

Throughout 2019, he tried to reconcile and get a contract going, but no offer made was accepted.

The rest of 2019 and throughout 2020, he began to work with himself to stabilize his own mental and physical health. He used streaming on Twitch as a way to help him relax and reconnect with others.

Emotional depression was a thing of the past now and so was the Spiritual one. Rebuilding himself from the damage would take time.

2021 was supposed to be the year of his comeback, but everything so far took a toll on him mentally and spiritually.

Cristian Mădălin Dragomir began to work on self-development and both gaining and improving his counselor skills starting with the year 2010, when his interest in spirituality grew. In 2019 he attended a self-development course and in 2020 got his degree along with his trainer degree. Those around him consider him to be an adept counselor with a good intuition and knack for offering the right solution to any problem.

In all this time, he never gave up on writing or his spiritual beliefs. Both his faith and perseverance pushed him forward even when, from his point of view, all seemed lost.

With a brand-new layout for his website: thesylthorian.com, Cristian Mădălin Dragomir wants to make a change in his string of bad luck that kept on stomping down on his happiness.

DragomirCM: “Well, this is my story. It’s not a bright and cheerful one, I know, but it’s honest, at least. Unless I went back to my younger self with my current memories, I don’t think I would change anything in my life. My struggles and suffering taught me many things, but at the same time, I learned that they were part of my own soul’s growth and evolution. Hopefully, I learned enough to be able to help others get through similar moments in their lives faster and better than I did. From this point on, I would like to add more positive and inspiring stories and achievements!"

DragomirCM: “With regard to the Tiny Trinket dev team, I hold no grudge or hate against them. It’s all in the past for me and dealing with them taught me a lot of important things, for which I thank them. Right now, I can only wish for them to continue on their path towards success. I could have stayed as mute regarding this subject, but I felt that it was necessary for me to be honest with my readers in regard to what happened to me as a writer in this period of time as well as how it affected me later on. My readers, my fans, and my friends were a big help to me for getting through all of these years of ups and downs.”

DragomirCM: “The first achievement of many is this very website, rebuilt and reworked in a new layout!”
